Elmore Co. wasn't created until 1866, if I'm not mistaken. All the land on the east side of the Coosa River in Wetumpka was a part of Coosa Co. and land on the west bank was Autauga Co. You mentioned records from Autauga Co. Courthouse, perhaps you can check with their old newspapers. The Prattville Museum has the old back issues. Wetumpka newspapers are found at the Wetumpka library. I'm not sure if Rockford (Coosa Co. seat) has old newspapers. The Alabama Archives has all of these newspapers on microfilm, or at least the ones that were unharmed in the 60's when they were microfilmed. There is only one cemetery in Wetumpka that has graves from the Civil War era. I believe a survey of that cemetery can be found online. I know the Wetumpka library has copies of the survey of tombstones. Perhaps an e-mail to them will warrent success. FYI - That old prison held many union soldiers during the Civil War. Some of them are buried in Montgomery at Oak Hill Cemetery, Montgomery's oldest and largest cemetery. Perhaps Dr. Burrows was buried down there in a more elaborate burial. That is where many prominent citizens were buried. The cemetery and the Alabama Archives have all the interment records for that cemetery on microfilm. It is worth a search. You might also check the Montgomery Newspapers for his death. Being he was a prominent citizen in the River region, and married into the Autauga Co. Montgomery family, perhaps he was written about extensively in that big city newspaper. Best of luck in your research.
