I saw Barabara Winge's contribution of the Revolutionary war pension application for John Townsend. Does anyone have any more information on this family? My gggrandmother was Alabama Jacks from Coosa Co. She married George Townsend whose father is a John Townsend (in Morgan Co AL 1860 & 1880). Until recently I couldn't figure out why a girl from Coosa Co would marry a guy in Morgan county, (married 23 Aug 1877 in Morgan Co). George is living with his father John and mother Amanda in 1860 Morgan Co, but can't find any data for 1870. At the library the other night, I found a Coosa co marriage record for a John Townsend and Amanda Lyle in 1848. I think this may be my John because on the 1860 Morgan Co. census she says born in GA and the Lyle's in Coosa Co in 1850 were also from Georgia. Would appreciate any help you can give me.
