John S. Lane & Mary (Smith--I think) were on the 1860 census in Coosa County with their sons, George Washington, Benjamin Griffin, and John. In 1870, the boys, with their younger brother James D., were all living with their Uncle & Aunt W. T. & Margaret Bachelor in Wetumpka. In subsequent years, the boys appeared on the census with the Bachelors as well as cousins Mary & John Daniel. I can only assume the deaths of both parents. George eventually moved to Texas; Benjamin stayed in Elmore County. I don't know what happened to the younger boys after 1880. Any information anyone can provide on the origins and demise of John & Mary, as well as the John and James would be much appreciated.
