Hi, everyone. I'm searching for information about the Alban Willingham family of Coosa and Chambers Co., AL. I'm interested in anything to do with this family, but am most interested in what happened to his son Shamie Willingham b 1815 GA married Elizabeth Strong. Some sources have said he died about 1840, but I have found land deeds where he purchased land after that, as well as having traced what I believe to be his family to Harrison Co., TX. I believe he and his wife died in TX sometime between 1852 and 1860 since their children reappear in GA and AL with relatives by the time of the 1860 census. The children as I have found them are Mary "Frances" Willingham b abt 1839 in AL; M.A.C. Willingham b abt 1841 in Chambers Co., AL; C.R. Willingham b abt 1843 in Chambers Co., AL; S.H. Willingham b abt 1845 in Chambers Co., AL; Sherman/Shami Onice Willingham b Dec. 1846 in AL (on way to TX) d Sept. 18, 1916 in AL married 30 Oct 1867 in Henry Co., GA to Sarah "Sallie" L. Owen; William Madison Willingham b 1850 in TX. I descend from the above Sherman/Shami Willingham and wife Sarah - they were my gggrandparents. I am desperately trying to find who and where the other children were and went, as well as locate any further info I can find about this family, including Alban's parentage, which is believed to be Jesse Willingham of VA and Oglethorpe Co., GA. I believe this family was of mixed Creek heritage, as Alban and several of his sons received land grants in AL as part of the Creek Treaty, and would love to find further info about this, as well.
