My great great grandparents were David Lonnie (Ell or "L") Smith, Sr and Emily July Teel of Weogufka (Coosa County) AL. Emily was the dau. of Calvin "Calvry" Teel of Weogufka. My grandparents were David Lonnie Smith, Jr who married Missouri Iltiny "Sissy" Callaway of Weogufka. Missouri was the dau. of Josiah Callaway who married a Collier. Their children were Mamie Pearl Smith Rayfield, Myrtis Smith Bryant Blankenship, Ezra Clifton "Clip" Smith, Ellis Virgil Smith,Sr., John Denson Smith, Mary Smith Haynes, Joan Smith Strickland, my father Winston ( W.D. or "Wink" Smith and Mildred Inez Smith who married D.L. Bell of Jackson, MS. Aunt Mildred is the only surviving sibling of my father's Smith line. My Uncle Virgil Smith of Weogufka and Stewartville was first married to a Ressie Bea PARKER from Marble Valley........ t! heir children were Virgil, Jr.(Junior) who was killed and buried in Germany during WWII, Charles Smith (also deceased), Hubert Smith who lives in Hattiesburg, MS, Shirley Smith (m.to Perry Dobson )who live in Virgil's house on the Weogufka-Stewartville Hwy, and Adron Gene Smith of Stewartville. Gene's wife is Dorothy Jean McConatha. Gene has told me in the past that they have a yearly "Parker Family Reunion" somewhere. Gene lives on the Weogufka-Stewartville Hwy and can possibly help anyone with the Smith-Parker families. I have been a member of the Coosa County Historical Society for the past 6-7 years now. A fellow member is a Billy Parker of Deatsville, AL.......... 2668 U.S. Hwy 31 North, Deatsville, AL 36022.. "beparkerjc@earthlink.net...Billy Parker has been looking for info on John D. Parker who died after 1870 in Coosa County. John married Rebecca PODY on 12-18-1846 in Coosa County. A "cousin" of mine who lived across the Weogufka Creek Bridge from us in the 1950s was a June Pody, dau. of Lowell Pody. They lived across the road from our Irene "Rena" and Henry Vansandt. Henry was a deaf mute and ground corn for us. Rena Vansandt married Benjamin Riley Teel of Millerville (Clay County) AL and was a well-known psychic in the state. Carolyn June Pody Mann lives at 1157 Smyrna Rd., Goodwater, AL 35072-4607. June has a computer but does not have an ISP Provider. June is in the process of compiling a book of our Pody-Smith-Parker and Kilpatrick lines with a Jim Kilpatrick of TX. June is related to almost all my father's line of Smith-Lindsey-Teel-Callaway- Darden-Logan-Kelley-Miller-Stewart-Rayfield-Bryant-Culver-Blankenship-Thompson and Phillips Families of Coosa,Talladega,Shelby and Tallapoosa Counties of AL. If I can be of any additional help my name is Mickey L Smith, 3306 Greenhill Dr. N.W., Huntsville, AL 35810 or e-mail me at "mickeymousesmith@aol.com". You can find info on our Rev. William Benjamin Callaway, Jobe and Josiah Callaway in the Coosa County Historical Book by my dau. Briana Smith Felch of Madison, AL. She has listed our Smith-Lindsey family of Col. James Alfred Smith and Lt.David E. Lindsey in the Madison County AL Heritage Book. There is a D.A.R. monument deidicated to David E. Linsey, Sr. in Columbiana (Shelby County) AL and a post in the Shelby County Historical Book. Our Patrick Smith, Sr. married David E.Lindsey's daughter M. Lindsey. This entry was made by Mary Joe Smith Brown of Sylacauga, AL. Our David E.Lindsey, Jr. has a large marble mounment next to his wife in the Sylacauga City Cemetery at the corner of Ft.Williams and Broadway across from the First Baptist Church of Sylacauga (Talladega County) AL. He was a "volunteer patriot of the War of 1814" as listed on his tombstone. I think there mey be an entry of David E.Lindsey, Jr in the Talladega County AL Historical Book. If I can be of any further help, let me know by writing or e-mailing me. Mickey in Huntsville Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
