I am Claude's wife and wanted to share this with you. Evelyn Thomas ec44thomas@cableone.net Claude Louis Thomas February 8, 1923 February 7, 2007 Claude Louis Thomas, 83, was preceded in death by his parents George Duncan Thomas and Eva Clara Corley; a brother Fred Duncan Thomas and a sister Mary Eleanor Ward. He died at St. Joseph's Hospital in Tucson, Arizona on Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2007 at 11:30 p.m. He was born in the community of Mt. Olive, near the town of Goodwater, AL. He attended grammar school in what is fondly called a two-room school house near Parkdale, then later he rode the bus to the high school in Goodwater. His first job was with the State of Alabama before going into the Army, in which he served four years. After his discharge, he took a job with the Government inWashington, D.C. and six months later,he went to Atlanta, GA, where he worked for the Government and his family bought a home and lived there 8 years. After the Government had reopened Ft. Huachauca, they were transferred from the Atlanta General Depot in Georgia, to Arizona when the need arose that they needed civilian workers, the government paid for the shipping of their household goods. He is survived by his wife, Evelyn C. Thomas; sons, Claude Louis Thomas, Jr. (wife Jeanette) and George Braxton Thomas and daughter Yvonne Marie Thomas. Claude had two grandsons Raymond Louis Thomas(wife Kimberly and daughters Courtney and Lindsay) and Steve Eric Thomas. He also is survived by one brother, William Aubrey Thomas of Birmingham, Ala (wife deceased, with son Randall Thomas and dau. Donna Sue Rankin; Sister-in-law, Ethel Chaney Thomas of Garland, Texas who has daughters Carolyn Thomas, Sandra Stonebraker (Kenneth) and son Duncan Thomas (Ginger): His deceased sister Eleanor Ward's son James Thomas Ward (Sharron) of Goodwater, AL, and several gr-neices and gr-nephews. His ashes were laid to rest in the Southern Arizona Veterans' Memorial Cemetery, on Buffalo Soldiers Trail in Sierra Vista, AZ on March 19, 2007 with Military Honors.
