Dear List members, Does anyone know of or have record of a Gilliland Cemetery near Kellyton, AL? Some information found in the new Coosa County, Heritage Book lists a Gilliland Cemetery near Kellyton, but I can't find any information on the whereabouts of this family cemetery. If anyone has any information on this cemetery like surveys and or directions on how to find it, I would be forever grateful. Happy thanksgiving! Robert

I have been doing some research in Coosa Co. as this is where my Martin's were born, and I ran across a site a day ago and asked them about this cemetery and my Martin's, here is what they said. Lorene, I am not at all familiar with this part of Coosa County, but we looked in the Coosa County Cemetery Books, Volume 3, page 66, and there is listed a Gilliland Cemetery which is located l l/2 miles East of Kellyton on Coosa Road #46 in woods in front of Mr. George Moon's House. There are 23 graves with tombstones and 7 unmarked graves. The marked graves consist of Gilliland, Brown, Wall, Steverson, Garden, Chafin, Porch. There do not appear to be any Martin's listed unless it was a lady whose maiden name was Martin. By the way, my wife's maiden name was Martin and her ancestors originally came through Talladega County around Talladega City in the 1840's. I believe this Gilliland family were not related to the Gilliland's in western Coosa County although they may have been cousins. Ray Murphy for Ottis Murphy Hope this helps a bit.
