    1. [ALCOOSA] RE: ALCOOSA-D Digest V03 #10
    2. I have been scouring cemeteries myself. My son and I walked through Mt. Moriah yesterday afternoon again looking for my Great-great Grandparents, George and Mary A. E. Smith Varner. Their daughter, my great-grandmother, Mary E. A. "Lou" Varner married Elias Kelley. I found George (b. Pendleton, S. C. in 1817) and Mary( b. Tallapoosa County, AL. 1830) 's marriage record in Dadeville. They married 9/07/1851, in Tallapoosa Co. where he taught school, then returned to Coosa County, where they appear in the 1860 Census in the Mt. Olive community. I can't find where they're buried, though. Does anyone know? I found many Varners, some maybe children and grandchildren in the Mt. Moriah cemetery, but not them. Thought perhaps they were buried in Jackson's Gap near her home, but no luck, yet. Any information would be appreciated. Saw no Willis's in Mt. Moriah, but Hatchett Creek is near there as well. The lower part of Hatchett Creek actually ran through my Grandmother's yard at her childhood home.( The home of Elias Kelley (b. 1851) and Lou Varner Kelley (b 1854). They appear in the 1880 census in the Hatchett Creek community part.
