Did the town of Kimbrell, Alabama have any cemeteries? I found my Foster ancestor listed in 1840 Coosa County census with the township noted as Kimbrel (misspelling). Richard Foster
I checked Heritage of Coosa County, Brewer's history, the historical maps at the U of AL, and the U of AL geography maps and I can't find Kimbrell. Found it in Morgan County. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Richard Foster" <r.foster@mail.utexas.edu> To: <ALCOOSA-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Friday, August 10, 2007 9:54 AM Subject: [ALCOOSA] Kmibrell, Alabama > Did the town of Kimbrell, Alabama have any cemeteries? There is an "Old Kimbell Cemetery" in Coosa County, named after the Kimbrell family, although mis-spelled. -----Original Message----- From: alcoosa-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:alcoosa-bounces@rootsweb.com]On Behalf Of Annette Bradford Sent: Friday, August 10, 2007 12:58 PM To: alcoosa@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [ALCOOSA] Kmibrell, Alabama I checked Heritage of Coosa County, Brewer's history, the historical maps at the U of AL, and the U of AL geography maps and I can't find Kimbrell. Kimbrel was the name of one of the ten precinct divisions of Coosa County at the time of the 1840 census - the first census of Coosa County. It was probably centered around the lands of Archibald Kimbrel, a settler in the county at the time of its founding and one called to jury duty for the first term of court in 1833. Judging by the names of some of the residents enumerated in Kimbrel precinct, John and Samuel Townsend, Mark Moore and others, it is possible that the area is now in northeast Elmore County. Elmore was formed in 1866 from Coosa and others. Later census and data identified these men with Brooksville, Seaman and Central communities now in Elmore County. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Annette Bradford" <abradford@nc.rr.com> To: <alcoosa@rootsweb.com> Sent: Friday, August 10, 2007 12:58 PM Subject: Re: [ALCOOSA] Kmibrell, Alabama > I checked Heritage of Coosa County, Brewer's history, the historical maps > at the U of AL, and the U of AL geography maps and I can't find Kimbrell. > Found it in Morgan County. > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "Richard Foster" <r.foster@mail.utexas.edu> > To: <ALCOOSA-L@rootsweb.com> > Sent: Friday, August 10, 2007 9:54 AM > Subject: [ALCOOSA] Kmibrell, Alabama > > > > Did the town of Kimbrell, Alabama have any cemeteries?
