Hello, I had several people who asked for a follow up on the Coosa County Historical Society trip to Flagg Mountain, so this is it. We had over 50 people at our meeting at the Unity Presbyterian Church which was organized 145 years ago and their present building was erected in 1889. After the meeting we traveled by cars (about 40 people) up the Mountain. When we got to the top, which took 20 minutes, we were on our own to go up in the tower, walk around the top and look at all the views. The weather was fair; no rain but overcast and the temperature was in the 70�s. The view from atop this mountain is so beautiful, you can see for miles and miles (7 counties) the trees were changing color WHAT A VIEW. Then we went down to see the log cabins, which were built about 1/3 way down the mountain from the tower. Joe Rogers gave us a personal tour of the area. Joe and a group of concerned men who live in the area are in the process of restoring the tower and log cabins. Thanks to the 215 men of the CCC�s who developed this area in 1933-42, but thanks to Joe Rogers and his group the �concerned men� for their effort and expense on restoring Flagg Maintain.
