There were 2 other Smith lines from Coosa that I am aware of; one begins with a Simeon Lowery Smith b/ca 1798 Troup Co, GA m/Sarah Rebecca Parsons. If my info is correct, their son was the attorney Felix Leslie Smith b/1847 who m/Ida Ione Thomas in 1878. They had Bertha, Posey, Beatrice, Maxie and Felix Lowery all b/bet 1879 and 1895. I have nothing more on the line after those children. Another line that I keep running into is the Vines Smith line. He was b/ca 1794 SC m1/ Rebecca Powell m2/ Frances B. Mulkey and m3 Harriett Jones in 1843 in Lowndes Co, AL. I believe Vines was in the 1840 Coosa Co, AL census with some of his sons. Children by the wives (not sure which on most of them): Hardaway, Seaborn J, Signal M, Thomas V, Elizabeth, William E, Lucy, Louisa, Sarah Ann, Rebecca, Harriett J, Josephine and James Polk. Try one of these lines for your ancestor. I know the attorney Felix Smith lived in Rockford. Not sure how adoption would have been handled back then, if it was expensive or not, but if so, an attorney's family would be a prime candidate for an adoptive parent. My line begins with Patrick Smith b/ca 1788 in TN who m/Mary Ann Lindsey b/ca 1788 TN. They came to Madison Co, AL by 1809, then supposedly Morgan Co (found no evidence of this), and most of Patrick's siblings and his father went to Jackson Co, AL by 1830-1840. There is a Patrick Smith in 1830 in Jackson Co, that I believe to be this Patrick, but haven't confirmed it. Patrick is in Coosa by 1840. The Lindseys (Mary Ann's father, David, a Rev War vet) and her siblings settled in/around Shelby and Talladega Co, AL, but one or two went to Coosa at least briefly I believe. Patrick was the father of my ancestor David L b/ca 1819, and he m/Mary Pody. Their son was David Lonnie Sr, m/Emily Teal and they had David Lonnie Jr m/Missouri Callaway. Patrick was the presumed father or older brother of Guy Smith, Sr that I posted about. (no other known Guy Smiths in the line other than Guy Jr, son of Guy Sr, so not positive the connection, but he performed Smith marriages and lived ne! ar Patrick, so appears a close relative). Sorry I couldn't be more help. If you find a connection to any of my Smiths, let me know.
