    1. [ALCOOSA] Photos of Weogufka High School
    2. I have three photos of Weogufka High School that I am willing to share. The first is of the orginial wood building. It is a two-story building. The second is of the first brick building that burned I think in the 1930's. The third is of the building that is there now but it is an older photo probably made in the 1940's. I also have several photos of school children sitting in front of old school houses/churches. Only one of these photos has an identifying remarks on it. One says "at Weogufka" on the back. These photos are around 100 years old. Anyone help an identifying these places/people would be greatly appreciated,. I am researching Grimes, Miller, Lewis, Vansandt, Hilyer, Mims, Bales. Thank You, Leanna Holmes

    2. Looking for information on any of the following in Coosa Co. in mid 1800's. Especially interested in anyone with connection to Melissa Jane Osborne or know of her parentage. Also would like to take this opportunity to apologize for contributing to the recent debacle on the list. I did something that I have never done and that was to respond to someone (Chaps) who frankly ticked me off. It will be good to get the list back on track. 3. The cure: It worked for me. Since 4 PM yesterday I have had no more of these postings which have nothing to do with Coosa Al genealogy. 1. If you do not have Explorer browser, install. 2. Go to message at top of task bar. Then you may choose : A. Conditions - from whom and to whom. Type in the name of the person you do not want to hear from. B. In the event that the person uses another E-mail address, you may go into Actions. You can block out any subject you want to use, and I promise you it will work. You will know the words to use, words which appear repeatedly..... If you need suggestions about what words to use, read some of the messages from the offender and see what is repeated a lot and type in these words. B. Then click on O.K. It works ffor me. I have not received one offensive post since 4 PM yesterday,. Missy's Mom.

    3. I have blocked the messages from Chaps, and that will ease my aggravation per the continuance of unrelated messages. When a similar incidence happened on another list, this approach was taken. List participants flooded the mailing list with queries, reposting all the surnames & info. with their family lines. Everyone got busy combining, reviewing & updating info. they the 'nuisance poster' was ignored. Give it a try!! Donna Wall

Specifically, I'm searching for more info. on their children - who they married, etc. Joseph BICKLEY was s/o Jacob BICKLEY b. c1779 SC, d. 1821 Lexington Dist, SC. Julia Ann KELLY was d/o Jacob KELLY b. c1748, d. bef 1810 Lexington Co, SC & Nancy BICKLEY b. c1793-1810 d. aft 1850. Some believe this Nancy BICKLEY is d/o Thomas Bickley & Anna OAKS, as this couple had a daughter named Nancy, but the dates don't fit for the former-mentioned Nancy Bickley, the one who m. Jacob Kelly, to be their daughter. Can anyone clarify who Nancy Bickley Kelly's parents were? Much thanks, Donna Wall

I know nothing about the Cokers, but I'm interested in these Watsons they married. I'm assuming Susan and Mary were sisters. My Watson was also named Susan. She was born somewhere in Georgia ca. 1807 to a wealthy Georgia Watson family, originally of England, who disowned her when she "married down" to an Irish sectionhand on the railroad, Benjamin Anderson Flynn. Susan and Ben married in Coweta Co., GA, in 1831, and moved to somewhere in east Alabama. Their firstborn, Julia Ann Flynn, born 29 Oct 1840 in Arbacoochee, Randolph Co., AL, later would become my great-grandmother. Julia and her husband lived in Coosa Co. all their married lives, and her mom, Susan Watson Flynn, lived not far from them after Benjamin died sometime after 1850. All we know at this point about Susan's family is that she allegedly had a brother named Henry, but we have no documentation of this--only family lore. Your Susan and Mary could easily have been the children of any brother of my Susan, and so I'm very interested in any information you have regarding their roots. I'm looking forward to hearing from you on this. In Jesus, John (Complete contact information follows in signature.) ========================================================== John M.
