Anyone have anything on Louise (Hallman) Thornton or a Harvey Thornton? Louise was the daughter of Harvey Hallman and Ida (Saffold) Hallman. They had 9 kids including Louise. I believe they were from Hackneyville, but Lousie and her husband lived in Goodwater, during the early 1950's. Louise left and was never heard from again. Atleast not until 4 months ago, when I found out my mothers real name. What a shocker.... Neil
Cindy, thanks for your reply. No Smiths in my line. My relatives were HORN and came from Clay County. Catherine Cardwell Horn was my gr-gr aunt from Coosa and moved to Clay when she married. Her husband got into a spot with the law so they sold everything in the middle of the night and caught the train to Arkansas. Cathy, I am looking for Shores Franklin Turner. I don't know who his Father and Mother were but were suppose to have been in Coosa County when Shores was born. We have been unable to find anyone who knows anything about this family of Turners. Thanks for this information tho and I will follow up on it. Joy Turner
Joy, Sorry bout that! I can't remember if I answer your e-mail or not but anyway ... I have not heard from the Turner Family in Coosa County. Guess you are having the same trouble as me with my Morris and Harrison lines. Good luck. Nova Morris Wade
Hi, Looking for descendants/researchers of the family of Dugald and Sarah Kelly Baker who migrated from the Cape Fear River Valley of North Carolina, and settled in this area of Alabama. Dugald and Sarah Kelly Baker, migrated here with her siblings, Dr. James A. Kelly & family, Dr. Angus G. Kelly, Rev. Archie Kelly, Margaret Kelly McLeod and family; and Mary Kelly McNair with her family. Apparently Dugald and Sarah Kelly Baker settled on the Tallapoosa County side of the county line, while the rest of her siblings settled on the Coosa County side. Those in Coosa County lived near the county line in northeastern Coosa County. Would like to contact the descendants/researchers of this family. Thanks, Sam West Lumberton, NC _______________________________________________ Join Excite! - http://www.excite.com The most personalized portal on the Web!

I would like to offer my surnames that I am researching from the western Coosa County area. Most of these were in Coosa County by the 1850's. My direct ancestors are: MURPHY, BARRETT, GANDY, GROOMS, BARKLEY, ALLEN, HAY, AND HOUSELY. Related surnames by marriage are: GLENN, LOGAN, HULL, RAINES, HARRIS, KELLEY, HILYER, HUGHES, PERKINS, SMITH, JONES, VARNER and many others from the western part of Coosa. If you have any of these names or are related to the Murphy family from Poplar Springs area north of Rockford, I will gladly share information. Note that the Murphys from Poplar Springs and my Murphy family have not been tied together, but they most likely came from the same area. Ottis Murphy

Wanda, I was born in Hot Springs, Arkansas. I know that many of my family (York and Phillips) did come to Pike County (Glenwood) Arkansas in the 1880's but have not found the Smiths. Were any of yours Smiths? Cindy Cindy, my relatives were in Coosa County in 1850 then moved to Clay County. Thereafter, around 1860 I found them in the Hot Springs, AR area. They had caught a train and brought the family west. Maybe your family did the same thing. Took me years to find my folks and I would have never guessed Arkansas. I've offered to post the following information for Autauga Friends of the Library: Friends of the Library is meeting at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 28, at the Marbury Community Center Library. They are asking that anyone with family history or memorabilia concerning the Marbury community attend this meeting to help initiate a recorded history of Marbury. The Community Center is located on Hwy. 20, off Hwy 31 n. of Prattville. This is the only information I have - for questions contact the Prattville Library. Hope many of you can help with this project. Caroline Horton, Pres., Autauga Genealogical Society
The town of Marbury, AL or the Marbury family line of Coosa? Fran Summers God is Good all the time!
I am researching the ancestors and descendants of James & Mary Gibson Miller, Henry & Martha Bell Miller, John Thomas & Mary Virginia Smith Miller, Patrick & Mary Ann Lindsey Smith, and John Alexander & Nancy Logan Smith, all from Coosa County. I also have a great interest in the Miller-Patterson Cemetery, some of these people are buried there. I have been there and it is a beautiful place to spend eternity. I would love to hear from anyone with the same lines or info on them and would love to "compare" notes. Patsy
In 1850 Bryant Smith and family is listed as house # 516 in the lower (South) Coosa index. I believe in 1850 that included most of what is now Elmore County and down to about Wetumpka, the Hatchett Creek census was the North part of then Coosa County. I haven't seen a Bryant in my searches of North Coosa and South Talladega Counties. Also would love to get some substantiated history about Hollins (Clay County) around the early 1900 when it was suppose to be a thriving town. My grandfather was suppose to own a couple of business there but those are only rumors and I would just love to hear bout the town and all its people. Virginia Cliftton White [email protected]
