    2. Virginia Howard
    3. Sorry, Sue, no Rachel nor a Holman that married a Jones. I am searching for John Holman, b. May 21, 1778, d. Nov. 29, 1843 in Elmore Co.. The part of Elmore where he owned land was in Coosa Co. before Elmore was formed. Most of his and Mary E.'s children were born in Coosa. John first married Polly Chisholm, second married Mary Elizabeth Underwood, on June 28, 1821. I have a lot on this family, but can't find where John was born, nor his parents. Some of his children are buried in Balm Cemetery. John was my gggrandfather. Do you have any Underwood's? It is believed that Mary was daughter of Lewis Underwood, and we are searching for proof. Thanks, Virginia Howard

My Great Grandmother was born Emma Lugenia Grier, according to her death certificate I recently obtained. Census sources say she was born in Alabama in 1874, and she died in Elmore County in July of 1930. So far as I can tell, her father was George Washington Grier (the middle name is less sure than the first). Census sources say he was born in Georgia in 1844. He died in 1915, probably in Elmore County, Alabama. I've seen one census entry placing George Grier and family in Shelby County when Emma was about 8 years old. But more than that I don't yet know. However, given the locations of counties, they could very well have migrated from Georgia and have family connections in Randolph County, Alabama. = Steve = -- Steve W. It's a couple miles south of Alabama Highway 22, which runs southwest out of Rockford (the county seat) over into the neighboring county. The Providence Cemetery is identified in a book I have as Proctor Creek and is said to be adjoining Providence Missionary Baptist Church. It indicates that there are some 400 graves there, but has conflicting information as to when the first interments took place. According to the map, this church and cemetery are actually closer to Schley than to Travelers Rest, although the actual distance between them isn't more than a couple miles or so. I highly recommend the USGS web site for finding places. It's at . It can even help locate places that no longer exist. I conducted a search for "travelers" in Alabama, designated as a "populated place", with variant name checked and got just the one hit. I also knew already that Travelers Rest still existed, as I have distant relatives who lived in the area. = Steve = -- Steve W. 3. Hello Polly Clarke, Yes, I have Elizabeth Ann (Betsey) Bazemore married to Joseph Tarpelin Dorrough on October 25, 1817 in Putnam County, Georgia. Elizabeth Ann (Betsey) Bazemore was born 1810-1820 and died in 1831, in Crawford, Georgia. She was the daughter of David Allen Bazemore, and a sister to Thomas Jefferson Bazemore who ended up in Coosa County, Alabama. I hope this helps. It is all the information I have on him or her.
