Arkansas Democrat Gazette - on line - February 3, 2004 OBIT - Marjorie Lynne Witherington Crump MOBILE, Ala. - Marjorie Witherington Crump, wife of James Shaw Crump, Sr., died February 1, 2005, at a local hospital. She was a native of Camden, Ark., and a long time resident of Mobile, Ala. She was a graduate of Ouachita Baptist University and the University of South Alabama. She taught Homebound/ Hospital students for 25 years in the Mobile County Public School System. She was a member of Spring Hill Baptist Church, where she was involved in various ministries and a board member of Independent Living Center. After retirement she taught English as a second language at the International Language School of the Mobile Baptist Association. She was the daughter of the late Tracy Enoch Witherington and Mina Wardlaw Witherington and the granddaughter of Jasper Douglas Wardlaw and Martha Smith Wardlaw, and John Quincy Witherington and Ida Emily Tracy Witherington. Mrs. Crump was preceded in death by their daughter, Anna Elaine Crump Cuevas, brother, Thomas Tracy Witherington, and in-laws, Jesse Franklin Crump and Lyra Mae Shaw Crump of Pine Bluff, Ark. Survivors include: husband, James Shaw Crump, Sr., of Mobile; sons and daughters-in-law, James (Jimmy ) Shaw Crump, Jr., and Denise Milton Crump of Albertville, Ala., David Franklin Crump, and Patti Jo Brown Crump of Eva, Ala.; grandchildren and great-grandchildren include: Richia Renee Reeves and daughter Jade Brianna Reeves, Daton Anthony Presley and wife Brooke and daughter Taylor Nicole Presley, Stevi Denise Presley Hart and son, Braxton Daton Hart, Casey Mina Crump and Judson Walker Crump, children of David and Patti Crump; sisters, Martha Melissa Witherington of Columbia, Mo., and Betty Elaine Witherington Gardner and husband, Bill Gardner of Tallahassee, Fla.; in-laws, Molly and Don Grimm of Pine Bluff, Ark., and Frank and Betty Crump of Closter, N.J.; nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank all the medical personnel, family and friends who have prayed for and been supportive of Mrs. Crump during her journey with cancer. Visitation will be held on Wednesday evening from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial services will be held on Thursday, February 3, 2005, at Spring Hill Baptist Church at 2 p.m. Visitation will follow at the church in the church dining room.
