Roberson: On 7 Dec 1926, God, in his infinite wisdom, saw fit to take unto himself the spirit of Mr. W.R. Roberson. While Mr. Roberson had been in feeble health for about a year, hopes for his recovery were only abandoned within the past few months. He fully realized that the end was near, and throughout the entire time of his intense suffering, no complaint passed his lips, but he was patient. He just trusted and was unafraid. His last days were lived in at atmosphere of fellowship with his Heavenly Father, and at times he unmistakenly communed with his children. The minister refreshed him, with a prayer during the last two days of his life. He became a member of the Ramah Baptist Church in his boyhood days. In passing away, his wife has lost a faithful companion, his church, an ardent supporter, his community, an unselfish worker. Mr. Roberson was married to Matilda Crawford, January 12, 1874, and they lived together 52 years. He was the last and oldest charter member of the Masonic Lodge at Burnt Corn. Rev. I.S. Ridgeway, his former pastor, read the beautiful burial service at the church and the friends of the deceased sang his favorite song, "Shall We Gather At the River?" At the conclusion of the service, the handsome casket containing the body of the good father was borne from the church by his six grandsons, to whom he had always been faithful. The beautiful burial ceremony was rendered by the Masonic Order. Mr. Roberson leaves to mourn his death, his wife, Nrs. W.R. Roberson, Burnt Corn, Ala., Mrs. W.W. Waggoner, Pollard, Ala., Mrs. J.P. Thames, Brewton, Ala., Mrs. D.T. Dean, Flomaton, Ala., Mrs. J.D. Nored, Milton, Fla., Mrs. E.L. Roberson, L.L. Roberson, both of Selma, Ala., and twentyone grandchildren.
