Regarding your 1840 census. My William Ellis was in Conecuh Co., AL in1840. Notice William E. (Edward) Ellis is there also. William Ellis was the father of Asa Ellis. They are also on the 1850 census of Conecuh Co., AL. In 1853 they were in Leon Co., TX.
