WITHERINGTON FAMILY CEMETERY CELEBRATION to be held NOVEMBER 5, 2005 at Ward-Witherington Cemetery (established 1819) Fork Sepulga, CONECUH COUNTY, AL conducted by: Alabama Cemetery Preservation Alliance Daughters of the War of 1812 Sons of the Revolutionary War Sons of Confederate Veterans Members of the Witherington & Ward families, who were early settlers of the Fork Sepulga area of Conecuh County, AL --------------- NEW GRAVE MARKERS BEING PLACED TO HONOR THE FOLLOWING EARLY 1819 SETTLERS OF CONECUH COUNTY, AL WILLIAM WITHERINGTON, SR 1741-1819 Revolutionary War 'Patriot' (born in Darlington District, SC) WILLIAM WITHERINGTON, JR 1773-1837, Ensign, Mississippi Territory Militia, War of 1812 (born on Lynches Creek, Craven/now Darlington Co, SC) SARAH 'SALLY' STANLEY, WIFE OF WM WITHERINGTON, JR. 1777-1845, wife of Wm Witherington, Jr. and the daughter of Sands Stanley of the Pee Dee area, Darlington District, SC ____________________________________________ For your info, Ann Witherington Morton signed the contract on Monday (with Cope Funeral Home in Evergreen) for the gravestone markers to be prepared by Cope for the planned November 5, 2005 "Ward-Witherington Cemetery Celebration" for: ..William Witherington, SR, Revolutionary War "Patriot" ..William Witherington, JR, Ensign, Miss Territory Militia, War of 1812 ..Sarah Sally Stanley, wife of William Witherington, Jr. We plan to see to it that two official bronze markers (approx 5-6 inches in size) are delivered to Bill Cope in plenty of time for him to attach to the stones. ...Revolutionary War marker (SAR) for William Witherington, SR ...War of 1812 marker (Daughters of 1812) for William Witherington, JR. ......YOUR PERSONAL INVITATION NOTICE....... We invite all of you "COUSINS" linked to the WITHERINGTON families of Darlington, SC, Conecuh County, AL, and Calhoun & Ouachita Counties in Arkansas to join with us at this gala celebration on November 5, 2005. ...Flags, Revolutionary War Honor Guard, War of 1812 (SAR) Honor Guard, Sons of Confederate Veterans Honor Guard, bagpipers, buglers and patriotic singing are scheduled. Preceding the official ceremony, there will be a "dutch treat" box lunch served at the 1859 Historic Witherington Plantation Home, which is located only 3-4 miles from the old Ward-Witherington Cemetery Celebration.
