Subj: Re: [ALCONECU] Conecuh County Alabama Courthouse Date: 6/6/2005 2:13:53 PM Eastern Standard Time From: YukiYama2 To: southernborn55@hotmail.com Do you know how and where the records have been stored? I hope great care has been taken with the old records..they are fragile and important as they are sometimes the only remaining documentation that genealogy researchers can get. Unfortunately, in one GA town where I have done research, the old records were placed in garbage bags to be moved and "temporarily" stored in an attic of a public building...some were deemed trash and thrown out ...others remained but without being retrieved, forgotten and not cataloged. A group is trying to salvage them as they have been found and are deteriorating with their age and being so fragile. Much historical documentation has been lost forever. We will never know what all went on in this local for much of the 17 and 1800's.
