James Dies In Pensacola Tuesday" "Following several months of declining health, William Benford James, age 72, died suddenly at 7:30 Tuesday morning at his home in Pensacola, the cause of his death being heart attack. Deceased was a native of Huntsville, but he moved to Evergreen with his parents when quite a small boy. He lived here until 1918, moving to Mobile, later to West Palm Beach, FL, and other points in Florida. For the past ten years he had lived in Pensacola. Mr. James served the county as deputy sheriff during the term of the late W. W. Pridgen and in 1912 became postmaster. He was well known throughout the county and enjoyed the respect and esteem of a host of friends here as well as elsewhere he had lived. For a number of years he was associated with The Courant with the late Editor George W. Salter. He also was for a time connected with The Conecuh Record. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Evergreen, Mason and K. of P. Funeral services were held Wednesday at 3 P.M. from Henderson Mortuary conducted by the Rev. Earl W. Powell. Interment was in The Evergreen Cemetery. Pall bearers were: E. C. Northcutt, R.G. Kendall, Sr., Mr. Brewton, R.G. Bozeman, Sr., D. E. Higdon, Henry Dunn. Services were concluded at the grave with Masonic rites. He is survived by a widow and five children by a former marriage. They are Edwin B. James, Evergreen, Mrs. L. Cantrell, Monticello, Fla., Chancey R. James, Amory, Miss., Mrs. W. O. Livingston, Sanford, Fla., William J. James, Mobile."
