He appear in the 1920 census as residing in Evergreen with his wife. The 1920 census states that he was born in Alabama and his father in Georgia, his wife is name Melia, but my research indicate that her real name was probably Amelia and that she may have been Cherokee or part Cherokee. I know that he had at least 2 son Andy and William. Where he came from in Georgia or when he settle in Conecuh I don't Know . I do know that my grandfather William Sanford appears on the 1930 census as W. M. Sanford living in Emhouse, Navarro County, Texas with wife Mary and 5 sons the oldest Judge Sanford age 36 and my father the youngest Johnnie Sanford age 12 , all born in Texas. My grandfather was a light skin Negro who often past as white so my Great grandfather may have been Mulato. If you have or find any information on my family please post. Thanks
