WALKER has been in Mobile recently. CAPTAIN AMERINE, of Montgomery, was in Evergreen last Tuesday. REV. E. E. COWAN has been sent to Milton Florida for the next year. MAJOR E. H. LEWIS an attorney from Andalusia has been in town this week. MR. S. M. BARFIELD of Georgiana, as spent some time in Evergreen this week. MISSES LAURA STALWORTH and MAGGIE MERTIUS spent the holidays in Evergeen. REV. R.(?B?) F. RILEY has been called as pastor to the Baptist church at Livingston, Als. MISS A. E. MONROE is spending the Christmas holidays with relatives in Selma. MR. W. T. WIGGINS of Castleberry, called on his Evergreen friends one day this week. MISS GEORGIA BEELA(N)D one of Greevilles charming young ladies visiting is visiting MISS PEARL LOCKS. MISS TILLIE GODSHA(?) of louisville, Ky. is visiting her sister MRS. R. ROSENFIELD of this place. note** the page is folded and some names are obscured ** MR. E. S. BEASLEY who is attending the State University is on a visit to his home in this county. W. S. CROSBY is making an efficient night marshal. His services have been in demand during the holidays. MISSESS FANNIE C(??)REY and GEORGIA STUBBS of Brooklyn have been spending some time with relatives in Evergreen. MR W. C. HAWKINS of West Point, Miss., a nephew of MR. W. H. HAWKINS has been visiting his relative at this place. REV. W. S. WADE, at Lowenesboro last year, will take the place of MR. COWAN in Evergreen for the next twelve months. MR. and MRS . BAY (?DAY?) of Canoe Station accompanied by their accomplished daughter MISS ELA MARTIN spent last Tuesday in town. From what we have seen of DR. BEATTY, our new dentist. We think he will be both surgically and professionally an acquistion in Evergreen. MR. A. D. CATO(blurred), of this county, who is engaged in the timber bussiness in Mississippi, is spending the Christmas with his family at Cohasset. MR. WILLIS DAY, JR., of Montgomery spent several days during the week with his sisters MISS E. DARBY and MRS. M. W. ETHERIDGE of this place. A quiet Christmas. A cold dissagreeable Christmas. Happy New Year to our readers Very few arrests were made during he week. Cold and sore throats are very prevelent of late. CAPTAIN JAMES FORTNER, an ex-sheriff of this county died on the 27th. ( no further information was printed on him) A mail route from Evergreen to Burnt Corn , with offices at MR. J. B. BUNNETTS and at MR. JAMES BELL'S, will be established at an early day. Died in Tucson, Arixona Territory , on December 19th, 1881, JAMES BUELL, ESQ., after a lingering illness MR. BUELL was a brother of the late DAVID BUELL of Greenville, and a brother-in-law of E. R. SAMPEY. JOHNSTON-ETHRIDGE Married, at the residence of the brides parents , near Belleville, Ala., on the 24th. MR. PERCY JOHNSTON To MISS LULA ETHRIDGE both of Coneuch County. The bride is the youngest daughter of MR. J. W. ETHRIDGE, one of Conecuh's most esteemed citizens. She is a young lady highly esteemed by a wide circle of frineds. One who is possessed of amiability of disposition, loveliness of character and beauty of person. May the lives of this newly wedded pair be cloudless and happy.
