    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Stokes, Lee, Joiner, Joyner Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/4R.2ADE/979.1.1 Message Board Post: Sherry, Thanks very much for your message. I looked back through my old notes and did some further census research. I have three pages xeroxed from a book by Ransey Joiner, Jr. entitled JOINER-JOYNER VOLUME II A HISTORY OF OUR ANCESTORS (1974). I've never seen the actual book and the pages were mailed to me. This book says my gg-gm Delila Joiner Lee was the daughter of Edmond/Edward Joiner (see below). It also says that Delila's sister Elizabeth Joiner (b. 1804) married Allen Stokes (no further info). I found one Allen Stokes on the 1830 Conecuh Co. census near Edmond Joiner. 1830 Conecuh County Census p. 95 Edmond JOINER (top of page, first name) 1m 5-10 1m 10-15 2m 15-20 3m 20-30 1m 50-60 [Edmond-b. 1770-1780] 1f 5-10 1f 10-15 2f 15-20 1f 20-30 1f 40-50 Allen Stokes (on same page a few dwellings away) 1m 5-10 1m 20-30 [Allen b. 1800-1810] 1f u5 1f 5-10 2f 20-30 The Allen above I assume would be the Allen that the Joyner book says married Elizabeth Joiner and would be the father of Allen H.(Henderson) Stokes (in your post) if the book is correct. ---------------- 1840 Conecuh Co.
