    2. But... Your problems come in with the census people. When they go to a house they will ask what your last name is. If the person says Mixen, they will most likely write Mixon. So with that fact there can be several ways a person may write they're last names. Ex: My Brick wall is Lihue Hooks. I found him spelled almost every way imagionable. I would think the grave would be the correct way Wrong. I the 1920 census he wrote his own name. He spelled it Lihue. But, again on something else he has it spelled Elihue. And on his grave it again is spelled different: Lie Hugh. Enough to make a person go insane. lol So because someone spells it one way do not be surprised if you find it several other ways. Johnson is another of our family names. I have found same people with the spelling Johnson, Johnston and Johnstone. Best way I find is just to search using all spellings. These people had limited education. So it just depened on the education of the census person and others as to how we may find it. Just a little FYI hope it helps. Joyce
