Sally 10 Mattie 6 John 3 Emily 1 ---------------- The John HALL in the censuses above was my g-gf. Hoping to find out if he might have been related to the ROBERTSONS with whom he lived, I've decided to try to gather some information on them. John J. Hall's parents and siblings are unknown. There is more than one family story about the mystery of his birth and upbringing. One story my mother was told was that her grandfather was found when he was a newborn baby lying beside the road and raised by the man who found him. Mother believes there is more to the story. According to Margarette HALL Wood in her book JOHN J.HALL, HIS DESCENDANTS, AND OTHER HALLS OF ALABAMA, "John Hall, as an infant, was taken into the home of John "Bud" ROBINSON/ROBERTSON and his wife [Lucinda?], who reared him along with their own children on a farm near Sepulga in Conecuh Co., Ala." The book goes on to say John Hall was found beside the road by John ROBINSON and his friend JOHN ANDERSON. Margarette questions why John Robinson named the boy John J. HALL, since he already had a son named John J. ROBINSON. I personally believe this "found beside the road" story was made up by John Robinson (probably to satisfy the curiosity of his children and others), but I believe John J. HALL was my g-gf's real name. Please let me know if you are related or connected to these Robertsons or if you have ANY info at all about them. I'm hoping to discover a HALL-ROBERTSON connection, although I doubt I'll ever learn who John Hall's parents were. I would love to learn about his ROBERTSON family anyway. Thanks for reading a long story, made short. Cheryll
