Inf. - Hester\'s Unit State of AlabamaClay CountyBefore me, W.S.Childs, Justice of Peace, in and for said County and State, personally appeared William Robertson, who being sworn on oath deposes and said that the following statement is true.In July 1861 I lived at Wesobulga, Alabama, Randolph County, Capt A.C.Wood made up Co. K 14th Ala. Reg., at Louina, Ala, in which I enlisted and went to Auburn, Alabama and was mustered into service on August 1, 1861. We moved by railroad via Atlanta, Georgia, there I got my arm broken. When I arrived at Camp Jackson, Huntsville, Alabama, I was hospitalized on account of my broken arm, and later I had the measles. I knew the following soldiers in my Co., R.A. Kidd, W.M. Clifton, Thomas Judge, and I was discharged Dec 1st. 1861, by being examined by Dr. Taylor, Surgeon of Regiment. Then I came home via, Atlanta, Georgia, got off of the train at Cusseta, Alabama. When I arrived at my home, my mother, being a widow woman, so in later years, I was appointed Orderly Sargent, by Enrolling Officer DeOrmon, to transfer conscripts, from Wesobulga to Talladega, Alabama, so after several trips, I volunteered to the 17th. Ala. Reg., under Capt Hester. I can't remember the Co. Tom McMullens and Chat Ingram and Jim Edmoson was in Co. with me. We went from Talladega to Selma, Alabama, by railroad. From Selma we went to Mobile by boat. I was discharged at Mobile, Alabama. I served under Capt. Hester for five months, discharged Feb 6th, 1865. I returned home. I married Mary E. Pursley in 1865 and lived with her until she died. Then I married Mary M. Hudgins, May 23rd, 1884. I joined Wesobulga Masonic Lodge about 1865. Wesobulga Lodge went defunk and then I was a Charter Member of Weathers Lodge No 390 of Cragford, Alabama, of which I am a member now. I always served my country faithfully and truly always answering the call of the South. Therefore I feel like I am entitled to a Confederate Pension.Signed: William RobertsonSworn to and subscribed before me this 19th day of Jan, 1924.W.S. Childs Well am heading to beddy bye lol.
