    1. Re: info on old Evergreen Prison Road Camp?
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/4R.2ADE/1647.1 Message Board Post: I just happened to run across your query, and thought I'd give you what I know, which isn't much, and may be of little use by this time. I was born in Conecuh County in 1933, and, though we moved to Pensacola, Florida in 1940, we did return to Evergreen quite often. As I recall, the camp was just to the right of Highway 83, about where the northbound entrance to I-65 is now. I further recall that the camp was used as a German prison camp during World War II. Of course, I may be wrong about this, but I thought I'd throw in my two cents worth into the pot (inflation is a factor). I do hope you got the information you were looking for from other folks a lot more knowledgeable than me. And if you have specific information about the camp, before, during, and after the war, I would certainly appreciate your sharing it with me. In my mind's eye, I can still see those white suited men behind the wire fence. Cy Brown Versailles, Kentucky
