Surnames: Rutland/Millsap Classification: Marriage Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/4R.2ADE/1617 Message Board Post: Married: Rutland-Millsap In the Methodist church on Wed. evening, by Rev. J.D. Simpson, Mr. Duke Rutland and Miss Tempie Millsap, all of Evergreen, AL The church was filled at an early hour in the afternoon, by quite a concourse of friends and citizens of the vicinity, in the presence of whom the handsome groom and lovely bride plighted their troth and were pronounced husband and wife. The bride was beautifullky dressed in gaslight blue ottomau silk, with blue satin paniers and blue velvet sleeves and bodice, blue velvet cap with a small white feather at one side, her hair was plaited loosely and tied with blue satin ribbon to match her dress. It looked like burnished gold as the sun shown on it through the open windows. She was beautiful indeed and equally so her bridesmaid, Miss Minnie Rutland, who was dressed in black cashmere with black velvet sleeves and bodice, and a large black hat with long black plumes gently flowing over her fair face. We must say they were the prettiest bride and bridesmaid we most ever saw. As soon as the service was over, the happy couple repaired to the home of the groonm in Old Evergreen. May their journey through life be one of pleasure and happiness.
