Your information is very helpful. Since Andrew M. HOWELL was right next door to Samuel BROOKS and wife Susan (Howell) in 1880, I thought he was a good candidate to be her father, so I followed Andrew backward, and he did have a daughter named Susan the right age to be the wife of Samuel B. Brooks. Susan HOWELL and Samuel B. BROOKS named a son Andrew Britt (maybe after both their fathers). I find it very interesting that Andrew HOWELL had a Susan PARKER in his household in 1850 (Marion Co. Georgia). She could be his first wife Priscilla's mother, and Susan HOWELL could be named after her. (I recall that your Viney Jane MITCHELL married Samuel PARKER, brother of my g-gm Rachel Frances PARKER Hartley, but the Parkers are another story.) Anyway, Britton BROOKS (b. 1813-1820), father of one Samuel BROOKS (b. 1849), possibly the one who married Susan HOWELL in 1870, was next door in 1860 Butler Co. to Drury J. BROOKS and his father Samuel BROOKS (b. 1790). Drury J. BROOKS was four dwellings from my gg-gm Rachel BROOKS in 1850. I believe that Drury J. BROOKS is the first cousin of Drury William BROOKS, son of John Sawyer BROOKS, and believe both Drurys were named after Drury MITCHELL, but I really don't know how to prove that Drury J's father Samuel BROOKS was the brother of Drury W.'s father John Sawyer BROOKS, even though they were neighbors in 1840 Macon Co. Ga. There was even an older William W. BROOKS from Virginia beside them who is probably their father, but I can't prove that either. One big problem (among MANY in this Brooks family history) is that I cannot determine who is the father of Britton BROOKS. He is near Wm. W. BROOKS, John Sawyer BROOKS, and Samuel BROOKS in Macon Co. Ga. in 1840 (with some MITCHELLs and DRIVERs nearby). The biggest problem is that even if I could prove any of the above, that would not tell me if/how they connect to my Felix BROOKS. I really appreciate your input because the MItchell name comes up all the time in my BROOKS research, Your message today inspired me to look at them again.
