I too have been looking for the parents and/or siblings of James Stewart Foshee. I have an old newspaper article says that he came to the area from GA and some researchers think he was born there. However, there is nothing to support this and it is contradicted by more than one census which records his birthplace as NC. I think it is more plausible that James Stewart born in NC went to GA (where he met the Parkers) and then moved to AL. Early AL census records show James Stewart Foshee and a William Foshee (Fooshee/Foushee etc) in the same area. Since they are the only two Foshee's listed in the same county, where the population numbers are still low due to lack of development and Native American conflicts, I think theses two men are likely related, but not sure how. I have copies of census records and land records for James Stewart Foshee, as well as descendant and related family info, should you need it. My direct lineage comes down through to my grandfather Clarence E. "Clant" Foshee of Red Level AL (died 1967) and his first wife Paulyne Harper.

Also, there are several good websites that you can go online to check records; in addition to other researchers looking for the same families. Cemetery records are also available for many families, and we have those at the library, and also, you can find them listed online at many fine sites. Just to name a few websites: http://www.trackingyourroots.com and you can click on Conecuh or any of the other 67 counties in AL. Rootsweb, of course, and Genweb and many others, and also the State Archives site; perhaps you might need church records, and these can be found at several different repositories depending on the religious faith of your ancestors. Samford University in B'ham houses Baptist material, and Huntingdon College in Montgomery houses Methodist material--and there are others out ! there. I know for a fact that we have a history of the Garrison Dean family, and other info about these families.

Hello List, I am looking for any info on the "Old Kendrick Place" at Mt. Olive. This is the home in which Hank Williams was born. My distant Uncle, Wiley Artis Kendrick, rented the old place out to Hank's parents, Lon and Lilly Williams. I'm looking for any backgroud info on The Kendrick Place. It has been said that Wiley Kendrick inherited the home from his father, my GGG Grandfather Sheldrake Kendrick, and that Sheldrake originally built the house and ran a store out of it. Does anyone know anything about this? Any info on the Kendrick place will be greatfully appreciated. Leon Weekley Bay Minette, AL

There are several more Miller family members buried at both Mount Union and Sepulga Cemeteries. You can check online the following site- http://www.trackingyourroots.com and look for other cemeteries. We have a folder on the Miller Family from Mount Union and several researchers on file for that name, in addition to Community History files for Mt. Union & Old Town at our public library. I also have a researcher looking into the Daniel family--there are some of those by that name buried at Sepulga too, I believe. Perhaps that will help you, and I found Alfred practicing as a preacher many times in the Marriage book--he married lots of couples from circa 1867 to abt 1900.The entire Miller family men were Methodist preachers and/or teachers--a well educa! ted group.

I don't know where to begin, but I'll start out by listing what I have so far on my ancestors. I'm searching for the "Parents" of both of my great-grandparents: John McCloud and Sarah Charity Roberts. John McCloud was born 1850 in GA or SC and died 1895 in Flomaton, AL.. buried at Brushy Creek Cemetery in Conecuh County AL. I'm not sure which state or the county where he was born, but would like to know! Sarah Charity Roberts (also called Sallie) was born 6-20-1852 in GA and died 9-25-1941 in Flomaton, AL.. buried at the Flomaton Cemetery.. her "birthplace" is also a question.. don't know what town nor county. And I have no idea what her Parent's names are.. just the last name Roberts. Sometime in my childhood, it seems like I've heard my mama say that Sallie was possibly from Jonesboro (Clayton County) GA. But, I can't be positive about this.. it was such a long time ago, and I was so young. But, it could be possible. I have also heard that Sarah (Sallie) remarried after John McCloud died, married a Henry Smith and lived in FL for awhile. I don't know anything else about this. She didn't have any children by him. I'm stumped for sure.. for there's nobody left to ask, that's old enough to remember, in my family. All the older folks have passed on. And everywhere I've checked, came up with nothing. I can't seem to find a match anywhere. I have really hit a brick wall!! ha! ha! I do have a list of John and Sarah's Children: 1. J. W. McCloud - b. 2-25-1878 - Headland, AL .. no date of death, but, I think he might have been buried at Brushy Creek Cemetery - Conecuh County AL. I don't think he ever married. I don't know what the J.W. stands for.. poss. John William?? 2. Rosalee McCloud - b. 8-13-1880 - Headland, AL .. no date of death, but was buried at Flomaton, AL cemetery .. she married: Warren Ashley Hammac - children: Claude, Roy, Coady, Della Mae, Ibra, and Myrtle 3. William Henry McCloud - b. 11-30-1882 - Headland, AL .. d. 12-19-1935 .. buried: Flomaton, AL .. he married: Rosa Mae Jones Children: Esco, and William H.,Jr 4. Marcus Pomeroy McCloud - b. 9-20-1884 - Headland, AL .. d. 6-8-1953 .. buried: Flomaton, AL .. his first marriage: Mary Jewell Conant .. his second marriage: Katherine Kuhl Halligan 5. Hattie Lida McCloud - b. 3-19-1887 - Headland, AL .. no date of death, but was buried in Mobile, AL .. her first marriage: first name unknown.. last name is Strength.. their son: Carney Strength .. 2nd husband: A.B. Davis .. not sure what the A.B. stands for.. could possibly be Albert B. cause they had a son named Albert Earle Davis. 6. Lili Jan McCloud - b. 2-10-1889 - Headland, AL .. no date of death, but I think she might have been buried at Brushy Creek Cemetery - Conecuh County, AL .. I'm thinking that this might be the child Lilly McCloud I've heard that was buried next to John McCloud. 7. Clinton McCloud - b. 6-14-1893 - Headland, AL .. d. 1935 .. buried: Flomaton, AL.. he never married.. he died an accidental death going home from the Service. Don't know the details.. but, wish I did know. Marcus Pomeroy McCloud was my Grandfather. He and my grandmother Mary Jewell Conant had three children: 1. Allen Jackson McCloud - b. 8-7-1922 .. AL or FL .. not sure which.. died: 2-18-2001 .. buried: Flomaton, AL (He never married) He was partially paralized. 2. Myrtice Gwendolyn McCloud - b. 6-19-1925 .. AL or FL.. not sure which .. still living.. and has alzheimers.. no help from her. She was married to: Curlan H. Miller and adopted a son: Gary 3. Mary Elizabeth McCloud - b. 2-28-1927 - Leesburg, FL .. d. 12-10-1992 - Long Beach, CA - this was my mother Marcus and Mary Jewell divorced and then he married: Katherine Kuhl Halligan.. they had one child: Marcus Paul McCloud - b. 7-18-1937 - Flomaton AL or possibly Century,FL - died: 7-22-1937 Katherine Kuhl Halligan had a daughter by her first marriage: Mildred Halligan Mary Jewell remarried to: Josef I. Blanc and lived in Jacksonville, FL I sure would like to get past John McCloud and Sarah Charity (Sallie) Roberts. I would like know where they came from and who their parents were and where they're from. I'm hoping that there is somebody out there that can help me solve this mystery. I wish that I could afford to get a birth certificate or death certificate of some sort, but, at this time, I have to just do it the hard way. If there's anybody out that can help me, I sure would appreciate any help you could me. Thank you for your time and God bless you! Sincerely, Deborah Payton --- avast! If you are related to, or know anything about, these Taylor folks, I would like to hear from you: William Taylor Sr. was on the 1840 Conecuh Co., AL census. On the 1850 census, he is 69, b. NC, and has in his home his daughter Sarah 35, b. GA, daughter Elizabeth 25 b. GA, and three Burkett children: Louisa, 14, Mary 11, and William 8. Daughter Lydia Rebecca was out of the home and married to William Dreading (Dreadin) and they were my great-great-grandparents. On the 1850 census there is also a William Taylor Jr., b. 1807 GA, wife Vicy, b. 1810 SC, and children Sarah b. 1834, William III, b. 1835, John b. 1837, and James b. 1841. Also in that household are Anderson children: Julia 7, Robert 4, Lemuel 2. Sarah Taylor never married, to my knowledge, and wound up living in her sister Elizabeth Taylor Skinner's home. I believe that Elizabeth married William Skinner Any help would be appreciated. Faye (Dreadin) McBurney
