When I was last there a few months ago the County and/or State was in the process of rebuilding a bridge on Highway 29 between the cemetery and I-65 and the road was closed. Alternate route: Exit I-65 at Exit #114 and go west on Alabama Highway 106. Shortly after crossing into Conecuh County look for County Road #33 to your left (it will be just before the Bethel West Methodist Church and across from the Bethel West Cemetery). Turn left on CR#33 and go approximately 2 to 3 miles. CR#33 will "T" into Highway 29. Turn left (south) onto Higway 29 and proceed approximately 1 to 2 miles. The cemetery will be on your left at the intersection of Highway 29 and a dirt road. I was told after my last visit that the old Concord Church was down that dirt road and behind the cemetery but I have not personally seen the building myself. The oldest graves are in the center and in the south end of the cemetery. Graves in the north end are much more recent. As I recall, there were several Gilmores in that southern end. Good luck in your search! Bryan

Hopefully someone can help me find the death date and possible burial fro Robert Robin Etheridge who died after the birth of his last son Erwin / Irvin Etheridge b. dec 1855 in Conecuh county..... Robert Robin Etheridge was married to Sarah Sally Joiner.....she married Robert Trawick after 1860. Both husbands are listed as Blacksmiths in Beat 2 . When Sarah Sally Joiner Etheridge marries Robert Trawick her eldest daughter nancy Etheridge then marries William Brown ...Nancy raises her youngest siblings including my greatgrandfather Erwin/Irwin Etheridge. Erwin is said to have become a logger and worked in the mills in Selmar Ala where he had his legs crushed between a log pile that rolled...he evidently lost his leg. He was married to Sallie Reeves. Erwin/Irvin Etheridge disappears.....think he may have died in Al;a because of his injuries. Can some one help locate either of thise men...thank you [email protected]

L. SALTER, bearing away the sweet spirit of her mother, Mrs. Lucy SALTER. Mrs. SALTER had been in failing health for some time. She was 71 years at the time of her death. All that loving hands here upon this earth could do for her it was done until the end came. But God saw best to take her away from us to her heavenly home where there will be no more sorrow. She was a most devoted wife and loving mother. She has been a faithful member of the Baptist church since early girlhood. She is survived by her husband, Mr. A. S. SALTER, one son, Mr. John SALTER, and three daughters, Mrs. T.L. SALTER, Mrs. Dick BURT of Evergreen, Rte. B, and Mrs. Porter STRINGFELLOW of Georgiana, and two brothers, Mr. A.B. LEE and Mr. George LEE of Arkadelphia, and two sisters, Mrs. E. L. BLACK of Butler [Co.] and Mrs. Fany [sic] WEAVER of Arkadelphia, and a number of grandchildren. Funeral services were held at the Fairmont Baptist Church Tuesday morning with Rev. I. S. RIDGWAY officiating. Her remains were laid to rest in the Fairfield Cemetery. A number of friends and relatives paid their last respects to this good woman. To the loved ones we can say we sympathize with you in your loss, yet we can say your loss is her gain in the Heavenly home not prepared by hands for Jesus said, "Come unto all ye that labor and are heavy laden and I will give you rest. According to a Jan 12, 1969 letter from researcher Lela Fletcher Kidwell (deceased/of Talihina, OK) to her cousin Betty Grimmett Steel (of Tulsa, OK)... "William Witherington, Jr. and wife Sarah 'Sally' Stanley Witherington are buried in the original cemetery located on Witherington land on the Sepulga River in Conecuh County. This was prior to later Witherington families moving to Lyeffion (on higher ground) to avoid the 'death causing fevers' of the swampy lands on the Sepulga River." If anyone on this list has info as to the actual location of this cemetery, said to be located on/near the Sepulga River, please provide the location to us. Thanks! Manning Stephen Manning (b. 1800 S.C) in the 1820 Conecuh AL census is the oldest son of Mark Manning Sr.1750-1850) who served in the American Revolution. Mark was the son of Moses Manning (Colonial and Revolution soldier) and Kessiah Lott. His other children were Elizabeth (my ancestor), Mark Jr., John, and Nancy. The sons all received Spanish Land Grants in Texas near Huntsville, Texas. All the family moved to Texas. We think Mark Sr. (age 97) came last probably with his son John. He died 3 years later in 1850, at the ripe old age of 100. His will, which was written in Conecuh Co. AL, but probated in 1854 in Walker Co. Texas. He is buried in the Manning/Brimberry Cemetery. I have papers where Stephen applied for and was awarded a pension for his service in the War. He died in 1926. Note of caution: There is another Mark Manning (Marcus) not to be confused with our Mark Manning Sr. I hope this helps with your research.
KING - COLEMAN - CROSBY - HAWTHORN in Conecuh County, AL. Joseph Richard Hawthorn/Hawthorne first married Sarah Coleman King (about 1826); and second married Patience Eliza King (about 1837). Joshua Hawthorn, Jr. married a sister of the two above mentioned King sisters. He married Nancy Esther King, about 1829 in Bellville, Conecuh County. Also, Thomas Jefferson Hawthorn married Catherine Elizabeth King (a 4th sister), about 1831, probably in Conecuh County(?). The three Hawthorn brothers were the sons of Joshua Hawthorn, SR. and Sarah Regan, who are buried at Bellville Baptist Church Cemetery in Conecuh County. The three King sisters were the daughters of John King and Elizabeth 'Betsy' King, who are also buried at Bellville Baptist Church Cemetery. __________________ Also, would anyone on this list have any data on the JOHN T.
