Several of my families were in Laurens County, Georgia, which I think was, or is, the same as Wilkinson, Georgia, before they moved to Monroe, Lowndes, Bulter and Wilcox Counties, Al. I am taking a poll! Would like to learn what took these people from Edgefield, S.Carolina, to Laurens County, Georgia. Some of mine were also in Laurens County, S. Carolina. Was LC, Georgia, named after LC, S.Carolina? Mary Molly Salter married John Thomas Ingram who is related to my ggrandmother Polly Sills Rober(t)son Ingram. Polly's second husband was Isaac Ingram. Do hope you all will continue posting your Salter and Partin info and questions. Freda

Surnames: Mixon, Harwell, Pickens, Cromartie Classification: Cemetery Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/4R.2ADE/1019 Message Board Post: Just had a nice conversation with Minister J.W. Lands, pastor of Asbury Methodist Church in North Conecuh County. Each year the church has a Homecoming on the fourth Sunday of July. Worship service is from 11:00 until 12:00 with lunch on the grounds to follow. Brother Lands told me that there are no official records for Asbury, that the Conecuh County Courthouse Fire destroyed the Asbury deed. The church was founded in the early 1800's but no one remembers exactly when. Lands said he goes to Asbury on the fourth Sunday of each month...he has a "circuit" or charge of four little churches. Asbury is part of the new Greenville district of the Alabama-West Florida Conference of the United Methodist Church. Asbury is the oldest active church in his charge. The current building was built in the early 1900's, is white with green shutters. Asbury has an attendance of about 15-20 people on the 4th Sunday. Their pastor J.W. Lands has been serving the church as part of his four church charge for 21 years. Members of Asbury pay for upkeep of the Asbury Cemetery, someone is hired to cut and trim. There are new burials in the cemetery. A life long Mixon resident, not a member, works to beautify the cemetery.
