Peter's parents were James Helton and Nancy Horton, both born in TN. While researching my Helton line, I discovered another Helton family line. I believe the other Helton family was from GA. Not sure if they are related or not. I found a Henry Helton on the 1845 Territorial & State Census Tishomingo County Mississippi Name Males Females Helton, Henry 2 2 Helton, Peter 1 3 Helton, Nancy 0 1 Henry Helton did not live near Peter & his mother Nancy. I don't know if Henry was related to Peter or not. The Dewey Helton I am researching was a female, she was b. Dec. 1899 in Tishomingo Co., MS. She was the daughter of James Daniel Helton and Winnie Bell Busby. James Daniel Helton said his father was b. in GA. I do not recognize the name Membrance, Dicey or their sibling Henry Helton. Good luck on the DNA testing. One of my male Helton cousins participated in DNA testing for genealogical purposes. I have been focusing on the descendants of Peter & Thurzy Helton. Some of the other lines I am researching in Tishomingo Co. are McCoy, Parsons, Patterson & etc. I also have ancestors who settled in Hickman Co., TN. I have been researching those family lines as well. I have been traveling to Hickman Co., TN & Tishomingo Co., MS for the past few years to visit family & do genealogical research. I have heard family stories that we have Indian heritage. I believe a number of my male Helton cousins have been researching the possibility of Indian heritage. To my knowledge, nothing has been authenticated. As for my moniker, I have strong ties to TN. Judy Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
