    1. [ALCOLBER] Early Coldwater Town/Tuscumbia Residents

    3. I've recently bought a home at 400 W. 2nd Street in Tuscumbia. It is on Lot #110, originally purchased in June 1820 by Jesse Davis Noble, a resident of Huntsville AL & later deceased in Montgomery AL. He was apparently a land speculator. A home was built on the property ca 1835 (estimated by similar woodworking style as other 1835 vintage homes in town & by nearest known date for construction of across the street home). Court house records are incomplete or missing for the period in question. The house across the street, built on lot #107 was owned by Isaac Young (carriage maker of Tuscumbia) and his wife Priscilla Isabella Smoot (built for them by her father, William Barton Smoot Jr., originally of St. Mary's county/parrish MD via Rowan Co NC. Wm Smoot later relocated to Leighton, where he was living in the 1850c. Does anyone on the list have catalogue file/owners of early (1830s vintage or ante-bellum) Tuscumbia homes ? Have not yet revisited 1840 & 1850 census, are lot #s given in either of those ? Thanks. Joel Mize

    3. Wished I could help on this one. Priscilla Smoot is my 3rd great grand aunt and would like to learn more about my Smoot roots if you come across anything else. Thanks.
