My great grandfather was James William Clark Smith who was born in Newburg, Franklin County, AL in 1837. He was married to Elizabeth Caroline Knight. He was son of Rev. James Smith and Nancy Mullins. His grandparents were Mathew Simpson Smith and Sarah Wallace. I saw an old DAR paper and it stated that there was also a son named William. Have not been able to verify this.
