    1. New book, UNIONISTS OF THE WARRIOR MOUNTAINS OF ALABAMA
    2. Joel Mize
    3. Hello, I'm seeking correspondence with Colbert County persons who had ancestors that were Alabama Unionists during the Civil War. Do you have a family story that hasn't been told or a period family photo that you'd like to see in print ? Looking for family of known soldiers, Union League or Peace Society, underground resistance members, etc. During May, I published the first book in a series entitled, UNIONISTS OF THE WARRIOR MOUNTAINS OF ALABAMA (it featured Marion County AL events/stories & cemetery atlas of CW period, along with first published photo of 1st Alabama Cavalry in ca 1900 reunion). It is 192 pp, 8.5 x 11" w/ color maps, photos and interesting content for Alabama genealogists and historians. The second in the series is due for publishing in late September or October. It will feature guerrella warfare on the homefront stories of Lauderdale, Lawrence, and Limestone counties (a la the stories published by Wm L. McDonald, Dr. Maurice C. "Wade" Pruitt, et.al.; including a Cherokee/Yucci Indian feature section); together with presentation of family data for the known UNIONISTS across Northern Alabama. Later is in the series will be a volume focused upon Colbert/Franklin & Tishomingo Co MS (including Chickasaw Indian background). Look forward to hearing from some of you. Joel Mize --- [1st cousin to Sarah Putnam Vorhees of Sheffield/Muscle Shoals; brother to Clay Mize of Florence; former neighbor/acquaintence with Minister Edsel Burleson of Muscle Shoals; kin to Mildred Kimbrough, Betty Tidwell Williams & others of Colbert County]
