Steve Cooper, My name is Howard Brooks, and your e-mail has been sitting here for some time and I've i ntended to respond. My family lived just to the south of the Tennessee River in the area east of Wheeler Dam. I've found many family graves between Wheeler Dam and Town Creek. But we are still missing some people. I'm looking for people named Gray who lived along the river. And I am particularly looking for an Emiline Cooper, who was a wife of James Madison Gray (1818-80). I know the gravesite of J.M. Gray, and also am acquainted with the gravesites of several other wives, but the Emiline Cooper gravesite has never been found. I think it's possible she was buried in an area later covered by the lake. So I understand you have access to cemetery records for people buried in cemeteries that were later moved to Lauderdale County. Do you have any Grays or any Emiline Cooper? Any info you can provide would be helpful.
