    1. Re: [ALCOLBER] Where was Wheeler Precinct No. 9?
    2. Howard Brooks
    3. First of all, I do not know the answer to the question about Wheeler Precinct No. 9. But I can speculate. If you'rein Sheffield and you go out Second Street, heading due east, that road goes either l6 or 18 miles and dead ends at a road where you can turn and go north over Wheeler Dam or turn south and go to Town Creek. The boundary between Colbert and Lawrence Counties is just west of that road between Town Creek and Wheeler Dam. So I would bet that the Wheeler precinct will be somewhere to the north and a little bit to the west of the intersection of Second Street with that road between Wheeler Dam and Town Creek. 1. Re: [ALCOLBER] Vest or Autry in Colbert Co.
    2. Howard Brooks
    3. I doubt this has any relevance to your family, but you never know. Sometime in the l890s, there was an Autry family living in Sheffield. They had a little boy who was playing with a playmate named Raymond Brooks. Raymond was somewhere between 4 and 7 years old. They found a gun, and started playing with it. Unfortunately, the gun was loaded and Raymond shot and killed the Autry boy. Raymond was so terrified that he hid under his house for something like 12 hours. I know this story because Raymond Brooks was my uncle. If you ever find a connection, I'd be curious to know more about the Autry boy. I don't even know the boy's name.
