Pirkle: stated on the 1907 Coffee County Confederate Soldiers Census b. May 21, 1848 in Hall County, Ga; enlisted at Buford, Ga Oct 4, 1863 as Pvt, Co F, 27th Ga inf Rgt; paroled at Calhoun, Ga May 16, 1865; dates on headstone, May 21, 1849-Mar 19, 1926; married Margaret R. Roberts, Jan 7, 1850-Mar 24, 1932; considering either birth date, he would have been but a boy when paroled. With Margaret outliving him, looks as if both drew a Confederate pension from the State of Ala; there should be a great deal of family information on both pension applications which are on file at Ala State Archives; those may be ordered on line, with US Postal Service delivery at: www.archives.state.al.us/referenc/newform2.html Note: there is no following "e" in referenc.
