It's not one of my main interest families, so I don't have a LOT of data on them. You'll want to start with my data base at http://pages.prodigy.net/billpayer/master.htm. This Tew family is the same Tew bunch that comes from Sampson Co, NC. I also strongly suspect that the Tew's, Strickland's & Wooten's all traveled together from Sampson Co, NC to Barbour Co, AL in 1841 ..... but I can't proove it yet. It's too much coincidence they all left NC, all intermarried, & most joined the War together. IE: W.R. Wilkinson, Company E of the 33rd AL Inf < http://www.e-civilwar.com/33rdalabama/companye.htm >. If ya go to the website for the Historical Society for Sampson Co, NC (Rootsweb??) & get in touch with Jerome Tew that runs it, he may also be able to give you some data...... like his paper called "Tews of NC"..... there's also a copy of the Sampson Co court minutes (a compilation) that makes for interesting reading. Like one of the Tew's sued one of the Wooten's in 1814...... <g> (Jerome is a busy boy...... I have year-old copies if yer too impatient). I tie in with Zach's older brother John TEW in Barbour Co, AL (when he marries a Wooten gal he'd have known from the trip from Sampson to Barbour Co) ....... then they (& most of Alabama it seems) took off for Walton Co, FL. Those folks working on the Windom & Anderson families in Walton Co & Haynes family from Covington Co, may also have something to add. Anyway..... go look at what I've got. Gimme a yell if you spot any errors & maybe we can swap GEDCOM's or something. (There's also a privatized GEDCOM at my website). Here's some bookmarks that may/may not be of some help at: http://pages.prodigy.net/billpayer/genealogy.htm (ctrl-F to bring up the search dialog box....... then look for TEW, for starters). Also please notice I've got 2 stray ADKINSON kids living with the Wooten/Peeples family. I can put you in touch with the young lady that has some knowledge about them. Happy Surfing Bill Wooten mailto:BILLPAYER@prodigy.net PS..... you HAVE seen the 1860 Barbour Co, AL census haven't you? 642/655 Wallace Tew 56/m Farmer NC Martha 46/f GA Zach 19/m Farm Hand AL Samuel 16/m AL Mary A. 15/f AL Asbury 13/f AL Martha 11/f AL Allen A. 06/f AL Effram D. 03/f AL
