Posted on: Coffee County Alabama Queries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Al/Coffee/10367 Surname: Holley, Aplin, Bowers, Henderson ------------------------- Robert, In reality all three Holley lines in Coffee,Covington and later Geneva Counties are tied togather even though talking to the Older "klan" none of them admitted kinship or spoke to the others..... NOT Unsusal if you know or knew the Holley's of S. Ala. Elam Quitman Holley was born 21 Jan 1801 in NC, he moved with his family through Alabama to a community in N Miss where he, along with his family and slaves operated a grist mill, the Community that sprang up around the Mill was known as Holley Springs, the present day name for the town is Holly Springs, Miss. When his wife died in 1844 he moved back to Alabama where he operated a mill on what is now Dead Holley Creek near the Old Hosea Holley Plantation about 6 miles from Kinston, Ala. near the Coffee, Geneva County line. He died in 1847. This was taken from the obituart of his son Zephiniah Jasper Holley age 104 in 1934. I descend from this line through his son John and through eronous information given to me early on in my research I am very familiar with all the Lines you are researching from S.Ala.
