    3. I am distressingly short in my Hall info. I only have the one family (and info from other about descendents). I'd love to get more info going back. Some places show that my John Hall was born in GA but his wife's pension application shows that he was born in 1815 in Clark(e), Jackson County, Missippy. I checked with the maps area at the University here and the only Clarke they could find for that time period was Clarke Store which was actually an area not a town. It was sort of a penisula in the swamps. Other people who him born earlier. In fact, the 1850 census shows a John Hall living with Elizabeth age 55. I think that was a miss reading of age 35. I haven't a copy of the original census. There was no state of birth listed. I have a feeling that his family moved back to Alabama before 1835 or 6 when he enlisted in the Creek or Seminole Indian wars. The time frame is the same as your John Hall Dyess. They may have been cousins or something but I really have no information I can support except that single John Hall back that far. If you find a connection, I'd love to find out.
