DeWitt Talmadge Smith, son of Abram Jasper Smith (b. 3/10/1874) and Anna Elizabeth Casey. Abram's parents were Aaron Smith (b. 1838 possibly in South Carolina. His wife was Dorcas Napier Smith (b. 1837). They are said to have migrated from SC to Clio, Barbour County AL and later to Coffee Springs, Coffee County AL. My grandfather and his brothers and sisters were delivered by Dr. Wallace, the grandfather of former Gov. George Wallace. I am also having challenges finding the Carolina information on the Smiths, since it is such a common name. There is an Aaron Smith in the 1850 and 1860 census for Anderson Co. SC. Barbour Co.
