I do not have an answer, but do have a question: Do you know where in Coffee Co (or Crenshaw) people with this surname would have lived around 1900 or some years before or after? We own 250 acres of land that is partly in S. Crenshaw and partly in Coffee Co. It's located in what is now the Bullock Community, off the Old 3-Notch Road, or highway 43, south of Brantley. When we bought the property about 15 years ago, there were signs that someone had once had a house there. The "rumor" we heard was that they were namedHattaway or Attaway or something similar. I had Nowling and Johnson relatives nearby during the 1850's to 1870's, but know no relation to the Hattaway family. I would just like to know the history of the land. According to the land records, no Hattaways owned the land, but I thought they may have rented it. Thanks. Gaylier Miller
