Greetings My Friends, I was recently contacted by the Morgan County Genealogical Society (my home county here in Alabama) as a member concerning the Molecular Genealogy project. This is a project in which participants submit a 4 generation pedigree chart, about a tablespoon of blood and a form to Brigham Young University for semblance into a database. I think that this is a great idea. I was wondering if those in Coffee County or connections to Coffee County might also like to participate in such a project here. To participate, there are 200 participants required. I was like to table this Molecular Genealogy idea as a topic for our discussion here on the ALCOFFEE mailing list. Please visit http://molecular-genealogy.byu.edu/ and http://molecular-genealogy.byu.edu/participate.html and http://molecular-genealogy.byu.edu/other.html After you have visited these links, please express your opinions of this idea. I am curious as to what others think of this idea, and how many in our area would actually be willing to participate in this project. I feel much could be learned from such a project. Our DNA make up is an accumulation of all of our foreparents. I think these tests could lead to our finding family members without paper research also. After all, those who are akin to each of us would have the same chemical makeup as we do. Let's talk about this idea.... Fare thee well, friends. Respectfully, Phyllis J. K. Owens CC CCAP site
