This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Lolley Corley Cooley Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/3R.2ADE/616.1.1 Message Board Post: Hi Bill, I beg to differ with you. Properly magnified, I could definitely see on the microfilm that there is a second "o" not an "r" and can see it with a magnifying glass on my computer screen. There are other reasons to believe it is Cooley rather than Corley. The Index identifies Louisa as Cooley, i.e. it refers you to 0283b.gif, 0317a.gif and 0328b.gif for Cooleys. Louise Cooley is the only Cooley for 0283b.gif. The 0317a.gif is not shown. Under 0328b.gif is the Isaac Cooley household. Look at the writing of "Cooley." The second "o" looks like the one for Louisa Cooley. I was in contact with sydtom 25 Apr 01 and she said, "I think you are correct that the name is Cooley." I have also talked to others that live at Enterprise, AL and they agree it is Cooley. Also, Alfred is listed under Louisa in the 1850 census and he is my g-grandfather Alfred Cooley. He was b 14 Apr 1834 in Columbia, Henry Co. AL. Alfred is listed in the household of Wiley and Harriet Godwi! n in the 1860 Census Coffee Co. AL. He married and raised a family in south AL. He remarried and raised a family in Jackson Co. FL, where my grandfather was born and raised his family, including my father. Alfred died 12 Jan 1920 in Houston Co. AL at his oldest son's home. Thanks for the response. John.
