Surnames: Halstead Thomas Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/3R.2ADE/605 Message Board Post: I'm looking for additional info on the husband, parents, grand parents, etc of Mary Halstead. Mary was born about 1839 believed to be in Georgia. She married William Thomas, or might be John William Thomas in Georgia. They had three children Valula Ann born 15 April 1859, Samuel who was 9 in the 1870 Census in Coffee County Alabama and John Gordon who was 8 in the 1870 Census in Coffee County Alabama. William went to fight in the Civil War and never returned, presumed death in 1864. An old family letter says when William went to fight Mary took the children to live with her parents in Victoria, Alabama. In the 1870 census for Coffee County Valula, Samuel and John G. are shown to be living with a William B. and Clara J. Halstead, but no Mary in the residence. Based on age can't confirm if William B. and Clara J.'s relationship to the children. Any info is appreciated. marie@aci.net. Thank you.
