    3. Hi Everybody! I guess I'm the new kid on the block today, May 21, 2005. I'm researching the surnames Averett, Coaker, Hill, Green, Jordan, McCleod, Sims, Stringer and Watkins, who all lived in Coffee County, specifically Elba and Enterprise. William Green (b. c1784), my gggrandfather, was orginally from North Carolina, I think, but moved to Coffee County. His son Thomas Jefferson Green, m. Jane Mahala Hill, owned a store in Elba and died in 1904. Their daughter, Cora Josephine Green m. my grandfather, John Stringer Jordan, b. 1868, and their daughter, Janie, was my mother. James Jordan (Jourdan), my gggrandfather was b. 1797 in South Carolina and later settled in Elba. His son Alexander McCleod Jordan m. Catherine Elizabeth Stringer, and also owned a store in Elba. Alexander disappeared without a trace in 1879-80. His son was John Stringer Jordan, my grandfather, who died in 1945. John Washington Sims, my ggrandfather, was b. June 6, 1851 in Americus, Sumter County, GA. He m. Lucy Coaker and died August 27, 1917. Their daughter, Daisy Beatrice Sims, my grandmother, m. William Henry Watkins, and their son was my father, John Collis Watkins. Jesse Watkins, my gggrandfather, b. October 18, 1817, in South Carolina, m. Eliza (Jones?). He died July 2, 1885. Their son, Samuel Columbus Watkins, b. August 11, 1854, m. Frenella Dorneallia Averett (1858-1911), from Dale County, whose son was my grandfather, William Henry Watkins. Any links or other information would be deeply appreciated. Ron Watkins Baltimore, MD

    3. Hi Ron, How small the world is. What part of Bawlmer do you live in? I lived there for 13 years, off Belair Rd and White Avenue. I am now home in Casselberry, FL. My great-greatgrandfather was Philip Green Belcher, and his daughter Eula Jane Belcher married my greatgrandfather Charlie Dale Cotton. Do you have any info on Philip Green Belcher? thanks, Sylvia ----- Original Message ----- From: "Ron Watkins" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Saturday, May 21, 2005 1:31 PM Subject: [ALCOFFEE] Averett, Coaker, Hill, Green, Jordan, McCleod, Sims, Stringer, Watkins > Hi Everybody! > > I guess I'm the new kid on the block today, May 21, 2005. > > I'm researching the surnames Averett, Coaker, Hill, Green, Jordan, > McCleod, > Sims, Stringer and Watkins, who all lived in Coffee County, specifically > Elba and Enterprise. > > William Green (b. c1784), my gggrandfather, was orginally from North > Carolina, I think, but moved to Coffee County.
