    3. Nancy, Not living in Alabama makes it difficult for me to determine the correct families. I just have census to help. There is a Richard Opey Taylor born 1823. This is all I know about him. Winnette Generation No. 1 1. WILLIAM1 TAYLOR was born 1790 in SC, and died Abt. 1824 in SC. He married ELIZABETH GARDNER CLARKE in Marlboro County, South Carolina. She was born January 28, 1797 in Virginia, and died December 04, 1880 in Lowndes Co., AL.. Children of WILLIAM TAYLOR and ELIZABETH CLARKE are: 2. i. WILLIAM GARDNER2 TAYLOR, b. August 31, 1820, Marlboro District, SC; d. January 08, 1903, Coffee Co., AL.. 3. ii. RICHARD OPIE TAYLOR, b. March 04, 1823, SC. Generation No. 2 2.     3. Thank you Winnette!!! Looks as though my hunch was right, based on your information below, William Gardner Taylor and Richard Opie Taylor were brothers! And, William did name one of his sons Opie after his brother! Now to fill in some of the blanks for you about Richard Opie Taylor, b. 04 Mar 1823 SC (Patsy McCoy's new message to the List says born 1825), d. 04 Mar 1877.... his wife Litha was Talitha M. COON, b. 18 Feb 1831 AL, d. 14 Sep 1895, both are buried in the Taylor Cemetery, Coffee Co., AL. Talitha "Litha" Coon was the daughter of James E. Coon and Sarah Roe. Children (8 per 1860 & 1870 Coffee Co., AL census) were: 1. Sarah Taylor, b. 1852 Coffee Co., AL 2. Mary Taylor, b. 1854 Coffee Co., AL 3. Martha Taylor, b. 1856 Coffee Co., AL 4. Judie Ann "Babe" Taylor, b. 16 Dec 1859 Coffee Co., AL - married William David Powell 5. Jefferson Taylor, b. 1861 Coffee Co., AL 6. Julia Taylor, b. 1863 Coffee Co., AL 7.
