Shelby, Judy/Judith Ann Taylor who married W. D. Powell is the daughter of William G. and Julia A Ryals Taylor, not Richard and Litha. The Taylor research group has this info and I feel sure they are correct. Winnette
Thanks Winnette, You and the Taylor researchers may be right, but, I think it might behoove us to check this out further, if possible. It's too bad that brothers William and Richard Taylor felt compelled to name their daughters almost the same name when they were born so close together! I have the following info (based on census records, which I know are frequently wrong): William and Julia's daughter Judy is age 4 on the 1860 census and Judianne, age 12 on the 1870 census, this would put her birth year at 1856 to 1858 - does not fit the 16 Dec 1859 birthdate (per Taylor researchers and my records also). Now, Richard and Talitha's daughter is a one year old unnamed daughter on the 1860 census and she is listed as 11 year old Judea A. on the 1870 census, both these ages would indicate that she was born in 1859. Does anyone have access to William David Powell marriage records? Or, any other proof of which daughter he married, William's daughter or Richard's daughter. I've been looking to see who furnished me with my information and I haven't found the source yet, so until proven otherwise, I think Richard's daughter is the best fit to the puzzle of William David Powell's wife. Can anyone else please shed more light on this?
